Operations & Maintenance Information

Major construction projects necessitate large numbers of sub-contractors, sometimes two hundred or more, all of whom submit operations and maintenance information as part of their contract. Current specifications still request hard copy manuals, scanned CD copies and ‘Original-as-Built Drawings’ on CD. This results in large volumes of paper which need to be stored and maintained for the full life-cycle of the facility.
Hard copies and Read-only CDs become outdated as soon as changes are made to the facility and/ or its assets. More significantly, with maintainable assets, for example ‘boilers’ and cooling systems, up-dates are always required in-line with inspection and maintenance requirements. The tedious, time-consuming task of scanning or manually extracting asset details is eliminated when the one-time, bar-coded, asset entry is made into Zutec.
The Sheik Zayed University in Abu Dhabi, a recent project handed-over digitally via Zutec, would have generated the equivalent of more than twenty five million A4 pages of data. This would have necessitated storage space of at least 1200 square metres and paper, printing and storage costs may have amounted to more than six million euro.
